Give me all of your excuses

I love collecting excuses.

I’m serious. The phrase “no excuses” has never made sense to me—it reeks of toxic high-performance culture, the kind that leads to burnout and costs us valuable talent and passion. I’m all about sustainable impact.

Besides, our excuses have a lot to teach us.

So when a client, a friend, or even (gasp) myself comes up with an excuse for not doing something, I get excited.

Excuses are a doorway to deeper understanding. They reveal what’s really driving us, what we truly desire, and what inner obstacles are holding us back. With a little curiosity—and maybe a good conversation—they can take us on quite the journey.

So, what interesting excuses are you telling yourself right now?
