It's time to complete my community participation piece for Jinny Street Gallery's Michibiki Vol. 3!
For those of you who wrote what you wanted to release — your hopes and your prayers — the weather is finally getting nice enough to send them to the flames at sunset.I'll be burning the whole piece in a small contained fire on Morito Beach at sunset on April 26.
Bring something to drink, a beach blanket, and join me for a chat about the piece before we set the fire. I'll also be streaming live on Instagram, so if you can't be there in person, follow me and tune in there!
Caption for the original piece:
lungs
sometimes
the weight of our traumas
presses on our chests
making us breathless
leave a bit of pain here to be cleansed by fire
breathe easier
Thank you for everyone who left something behind.
Jinny Street Gallery
Jinny street gallery is in the heart of Jingumae 2-chōme (神宮前二丁目), commonly known as “Jinni” (神二) by the locals. Whiff outside the city hustle, with its little showcases scattered through all the streets. Jinny is for stroll lovers that do not care much about the destination but the joy of the process. Jinny is for urban flâneurs who take time to love the city in all its shapes and colors. Home to all who do not feel like going anywhere but to walk and enjoy our exhibitions.
